To be fair, having housing be cheaper isn’t going to alleviate supply issues in locations with high demand and demand issues where there is low demand.
The housing crisis in the US is a varied issue. A big contributor is lack of transportation etc.
When I was in the US there were spool many people employed in the service industry everywhere. A friend claimed that a couple American baristas could be replaced by a single Italian. I don’t think that’s a huge issue - you are allowed to be different. But I guess it might in part explain how there is a lack workers and worker housing.
