Makes it a massive pain in the ass to find them on watch/read tracking websites, especially when they have those ~ and 《》in the title (or subtitle). As an avid Manga reader, I have started skipping those series because, more often than not, they are just as uncreative as their titles. SEO or not, a good story will be spread by word of mouth. These writers are just screaming they don’t have confidence in what they are creating.

8·2 days agoI use Linux and happened to just start playing on a private server. I also play Starcraft 2 from time to time.
There are three ways you can get it working:
-
Start the battle net launcher through Lutris. There is a launch profile you can download directly in Lutris to get it working.
-
Start the launcher through Steam. You may need to change the version of Proton in the compatibility options.
-
Start the launcher directly using Wine or WineTricks. This option is less user-friendly but will serve you in getting other Windows apps working on Linux.

Not The Onion@lemmy.world•Democrats Are Pissed Another One of Their Own Has Died in CongressEnglish
11·3 days agoThe arguments against this are that old people pay taxes and should have their fair share of representation in government.
The problem here is that olds are going to nominate olds and the ideals of the young are being completely ignored, so the younger populations are not being fairly represented. The DNC and GOP are both putting their worst and oldest candidates forward.
All offices need an age cap of 65, and the Supreme Court justices need an age cap of 60 and have term limits of no longer than 5 years. Supreme Court justices should be nominated elected by the people to make sure they balance the needs of the people with the wants of the president.

34·6 days agoI am responsible for gathering information on AI to determine whether we should use it for our next project. The ask was to use it for a critical process task. Immediately in my head I was like “no, we are not using AI at all”, but I obviously need quantifiable data. This is just another thing to add to my list of why using AI for core processes is one of the stupidest things you could ever do.

183·7 days agoSome people need synopsis reviews to fully understand what they watched. I use them all the time for things I have watched. If you make these things illegal, I will simply not consume your content anymore. There are plenty of other forms of entertainment to spend my money on.
Two notes about piracy that these Neanderthals keep failing to understand. If somebody pirates your content they likely weren’t going to pay for it anyway, and if somebody reads a synopsis they either weren’t going to consume your content or they already have and want to know more.
Piracy is a service problem. People pirate because you are not providing something they need. Instead of punishing people for being human, you should try and figure out what you are not providing and fix that instead.
With that said, the real point of the lawsuit is that the site operator profited with ads. That is a separate discussion.

Late Stage Capitalism@lemmy.world•Why the banks want a cashless societyEnglish
86·8 days agoBanks are hilarious. They use YOUR money to invest and make more money, then they have the audacity to give you paltry interest. Meanwhile they charge a percentage of a sale for processing that has a flat constant amount of processing power used. It costs them the same to process a $1 transaction and a $10,000,000, but they have the gall to charge 1.5% for both. Sure you can argue that the 1.5% is to cover overdrafts and nonpayment, but if you pay the bill in full you should be refunded the extra.

Finding one weak point and using that to ignore the rest of the completely valid points is not as good of a counter argument as you think it is.
Unlike GOP arguments, real evidence is not some flimsy tower that falls apart when you remove a single piece. Real evidence can stand tall on its own without fake or flimsy evidence to prop it up.
