It doesn’t make us wonder at all. If you were old enough and paying attention after September 11th, you would have heard many people saying that the point point of the expanded powers was to take freedom away from Americans, and not to keep anyone safe.

They’ve never done ANYTHING to keep us safe. If they cared at all about that, the first thing they’d do is give us Universal Health Care.

The ONLY thing that matters in the United States of Ferengenar is Profit. Any safety benefit that arose out of the pursuit of profit was simply a happy accident. If those benefits are found to be using profits, they will be removed.

Oh, yeah, sorry mate. I didn’t mean to imply you support it. I added the quotation marks because I wasn’t attributing them as your civic religions. I definitely didn’t mean to offend. Honestly, I’m just annoyed with some gun owners not taking the bare minimum protection measures, making those that do take precautions still look like twats. And, for the record, my opinion on gun control is that if you own a gun, you must control who has access to it, that you are responsible for its use/misuse, and that the governments shouldn’t have such a say on whether you’re allowed to own it. I’ve seen first hand what can happen when the citizens are fully unarmed, and I don’t particularly want to live through that again, so yes, you should be able to own a gun (safely stored).

There have been some minor positive developments at least. A few of the school shooters in recent years have had their parents arrested and locked up for proven negligence. I hope it will become a trend.

This is the correct government/law official response, in my opinion, and I hope it’ll continue. Everyone is so focused on AI and privacy (not at all insignificant concerns), that gun restrictions seem to get passed pretty easily across the globe, and those “I can own a gun no matter what and leave it on the kitchen counter if I want to” blokes make it that much easier for those laws to pass. It worries me.

As a parent i fully support this chance.

One of the reasons i do have kids is because i recognise how rational people who think critically of the current world will easily adopt this logic.

Meaning the future will be largely populated by children of people who are not capable to think critically.

I did always have a child-wish, so maybe it’s part excuse, but it’s a strategic excuse. Either humanity has irreversibly failed or it has not yet meaning i have to try increase the chance on future our survival. (No pressure on them though, they get to decide their future and i might win hope if i am lucy)

Most people are stupid. That is why the stats are so high, all lax with guns. Like laying them around against the wall for example. Then their 10 year old shoots somebody. But real gun owners make sure they are in a safe place.

If a bugler can get by my dogs without getting mauled to death, or my military training, god bless them.

Also, most robberies in Canada are done without firearms. Since… You know… They’re not exactly common here.

Also if you own a gun just to prevent imaginary robberies and dream of being able to shoot and kill someone, you might want to seek professional help. Most people don’t want to kill someone.

Burglars also have guns that can easily shoot your dog in the US. You are not even thinking about the US. I knew there was no way in hell you live in the USA with that comment. Robberies happen, this isn’t imaginary. You best be thankful you never lived in a dangerous neighbourhood. Nobody is actually wanting to kill a burglar. It’s was disgusting for you to even suggest that. Guns don’t always instantly kill people.

You are many orders of magnitude more likely to kill yourself or a loved one with a gun in the home than you are to stop an attempted home invasion with a gun. The statistics aren’t remotely ambiguous, you are much much much more likely to get shot when you have a gun in your home.

You best be thankful you never lived in a dangerous neighbourhood.

Then you didn’t know where I lived when I went to school in Toronto. Kitty-Corner from me was a pay by hour hotel. Lots of hookers, escorts, pimps, drugs, etc.

They just didn’t have guns. Because they’re hard to come by in Canada and don’t come with the same dick stroking reputation as it does in the States. No one cares about guns here because our country doesn’t masturbate over the idea of having them.

I’ve known multiple drug dealers in my life. None of them owned guns.

Perhaps you should self reflect that this problem you have with needing to “protect” your family with killing machines because other people have such easy access to those same killing machines is purely an America problem, not a global problem.

I hope you never use those guns on your family. Because statistically you are.

There is no way in hell you could compare drug dealers in Canada to ones in The United States. Real drug dealers have guns. Those drug dealers you have seen in Canada are nothing. Oh, look I am going to protect all my stash with a knife… Nope! And you can actually be a safe gun owner.

The American government hates kids and elevates pedophiles. If this isn’t par for the course, then we aren’t even playing golf.

It was never about terrorism. The govt saw a chance to leapfrog citizen surveillance by years instead of a steady profession and jumped at it so hard it wasn’t even subtle.
