That movie was weird, bad, and yet good at the same time. I really enjoyed it. I can’t remember where I even came across it. I might even have it on DVD.

Hey yeah I read that too a long time ago, was it about kids though and unending stairs going in every direction, but in the end they’re in an experiment? That book always stuck with me and impacted me a lot.
I actually loved this. It had some sequels but its the kind of thing that they are never going to do justice.

HA! It’s rough around the edges, yeah, but it is by far, not the worst horror/thriller movie I’ve watched or attempted to watch. Oh fuck! I totally forgot about the sequels! I vaguely remember watching the second one. The only thing that stuck in my memory is that it clearly had a much bigger budget.
It’s worth it. They’re similar enough and distinct enough to be enjoyed.

I couldn’t find any refences to a book anywhere - there was a short comic.
I think they might be referring to ‘House of Stairs’ the 1974 book by William Sleator.
It’s not technically what the film was based on but they do share a few similarities.
People wake up in a maze like puzzle without knowing how they got in there. But that’s sort of as far as it goes.
