That movie was weird, bad, and yet good at the same time. I really enjoyed it. I can’t remember where I even came across it. I might even have it on DVD.

Hahaha. I can assure you… you do not need to watch the second movie. The third which is a prequel, was pretty good IMO. But it’s not necessary to watch.

Hey yeah I read that too a long time ago, was it about kids though and unending stairs going in every direction, but in the end they’re in an experiment? That book always stuck with me and impacted me a lot.

I placed this in the same bucket as films like Fortress.

They are not good films. But they are enjoyable films.

A certain amount of suspension of your own intellect makes them go down real easy.

low budget, poorly acted, really interesting premise if you like sci-fi, post apocalyptic scenarios and or “weird” stuff

HA! It’s rough around the edges, yeah, but it is by far, not the worst horror/thriller movie I’ve watched or attempted to watch. And to be fair, it was Vincenzo Natali’s first full length movie, that was produced on “$350,000 in cash with another $350,000 [as] donated services.” https://www.newspapers.com/article/the-vancouver-sun/106334691/ https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cube_(1997_film)#Filming

Also because of money constrains, they only could allow for one day of table read before starting principal filming.|

Oh, no, sorry. I didn’t mean it was the worst film ever. It’s bad good. Juuuust the right amount of cheese. And despite the acting being poor, it wasn’t the worst and they WERE clearly trying.

You seem to be glossing over the first bit of my comment where I said I loved it.

I have not brought myself to see the 2 sequels yet. Mostly because I forget and my window of to watch “probably bad but I kind of like it” movies is narrow

I think they might be referring to ‘House of Stairs’ the 1974 book by William Sleator.

It’s not technically what the film was based on but they do share a few similarities.

People wake up in a maze like puzzle without knowing how they got in there. But that’s sort of as far as it goes.
