On top of Biden not doing anything useful here, Trump and the Republicans would gift them a red carpet while padding their stock portfolios with weapons manufacturers to make money on it.

I hate this timeline. Bibi’s the one needing regime change.

      World War

      Unlikely.

A middle eastern proxy war is likely, but the west putting boots on the ground is pretty much out of the question.

Well, I have a plan and I’ll tell you what it is.

This idea of a majority Jewish state, kept so through military occupation of Arab-dense territories, needs to simply go away.

I’m a one-state solution guy. Let everyone there practice their religion in peace and access their holy sites freely, and let democracy reign.

Israel’s big sin is that they want democracy BUT only with a majority Jewish population and an official state religion etc etc etc. It’s more than a Jewish homeland - it’s an ethnostate.

That is what needs to end. It doesn’t go somewhere else. No one gets pushed into the sea. We just stop pretending like we can use arms to carve out the “democracy” we want, and Israelis and Palestinians all live in a state that guarantees their freedom and safety.

Some fear that extremists will rise and take over that pluralistic society: build a constitution that prevents this. Embrace pluralism. Marshall Plan the fuck out of Gaza until the Palestinians see they have more to lose than their misery.

How do you propose your plan survives the inevitable waves of suicide bombers when you remove the walls and checkpoints?

Do you force the settlers to give the land back?

How do you deal with the hardliners on both sides who would do everything in their power to foil your plan? What if those people have popular support and your plan doesn’t?

Does Palestine simply cease to exist as it’s incorporated into Israel? What do you do about the Palestinians who would argue you’re trying to erase their culture and identity?

          Who pays to rebuild Gaza?

Do we call it a day and let those accused of war crimes off the hook or do we hold them to account?

Or apartheid South Africa, Nazi Germany, West and East Germany, Yugoslavia, South Vietnam, Austria-Hungary, the Ottoman Empire, the USSR, etc. Countries change all the time. Normal people don’t care they just keep on living their lives. They’re just lines on a map. It’s weird people don’t understand this.

Don’t go there. If people would’ve had these opinions on Germany after WW2 that would’ve went really bad. Germany has been rehabilitated not perfectly but imo rather well. I think it is possible for Israel/Palestine as well.

Or are you suggesting to genocide Israelis like their government is doing to Palestinians right now? That’d be pretty fucked up, don’t you think?

People did have these opinions after WW2. They removed nazis from poland, france, russia, etc. Similarly, if zionists refuse to accept freedom, equality, etc., then they’re free to return to their actual “homelands” in europe, asia, africa, etc. for rehabilitation.

Thank God they didn’t gain the upper hand.

I think “Israel” needs to be demilitarized and dezionified so that they cannot hurt anyone else. The people responsible for the genocide and crimes against the Palestinian people need to be tried in a court. Let an international alliance govern the affairs of a new state of Palestinians and Jews willing to live together in piece. Everyone else who wants to continue the violence can fuck Off.

I don’t understand why I am being downvoted for this except that maybe some of these people screaming for peace here actually just want to reverse the killing.

It’s probably because your comment shows a lack of understanding of the region. A demilitarized Israel is a destroyed Israel. They’ve been attacked by every surrounding state multiple times. Hamas, Lebanon/Hezbollah, and Iran have been consistently firing rockets into Israel for years.

The reason why these conflicts are so complicated is that both sides have done so many horrible things that no one is on the “right” side of history. It’s like trying to argue who was the good guy in all the wars of Medival Europe.

Maybe just “would’ve gone”, if I’m speaking English.

Or are you suggesting to genocide Israelis

I think one can stop propping them up and emboldening them to attack every neighbouring country on the shittiest of sham pretexts, and prevent their repeated belligerent invasions of other sovereign nations without going as far as actually attacking them back, let-fucking-alone going all the way to genocide.

That’s a bit of a leap, don’t ya think? I’ve seen goalposts move, but that’s a little ridiculous.

Thank you for correcting me in such a condescending way. Not everyone is a native speaker, doesn’t mean I don’t speak English.

Look at the comment I am replying to. The literally said Israel must go. What is that implicating? Certainly not Israel needs to be rehabilitated, like Nazi Germany, which is what I am advocating for here.

Reading your second paragraph, we seem to agree.

It’s the Comment I am replying to that seems to want Israel gone. How do you make that happen, without eradicating or displacing them (both of which is considered genocide)?

Iran’s last change in ruler was barely noticeable: one ancient dude in a turban for another with almost the same name. I’m sure the next will be similarly unnewsworthy.
