Craig and Charlie Reid, who make up the beloved Scottish rock duo The Proclaimers, best known for their 1988 hit “I’m Gonna Be (500 Miles),” denounced trans rights while promoting their new album, claiming the movement for equality is merely “the Left losing their collective mind.”
The 64-year-old twin brothers discussed their new and staunchly political album, You May Offend, with The Telegraph earlier this month. While the songs express several views that veer left, they made clear in their interview that they do not support trans rights.
They can fuck 500 miles right off this planet.

What causes famous people to do this? They could have simply sat back and collected royalties and not made waves. No one was asking these one hit wonders what their opinions on anything were. They just threw their careers and reputations away unprompted. Even ignoring how wrong they are, why would they think this is a good move?

No. Like most people on my side of pond, I have only listened to 500 Miles and also the one that was in Shrek.
There is a special type of sadness that comes with your childhood cultural icons all turning out to be shit. I wish there was a word for that feeling.

I don’t understand why so many people give such a shit what someone else does with their own body. Less than 1% of the population is even trans. The majority of these people don’t even know a trans person. There are so many things happening in the world that actually affect your life directly to pay attention to that people ignore. There’s nothing about a trans person existing that affects the people around them other than their own discomfort at choices they don’t understand. It’s so petty and pointless to fight against - let people be who they want to be. No one is pressuring you to do the same or force that culture on you. Unlike religion or anti-trans crusaders.
But trans humans and animals are biological reality, they occur naturally
Like we were all sitting around wondering what the Proclaimers would make of twentieth century modernity.
