I feel the need to note that the “Independent State of Croatia” was likely (I am not a historian, take my statement with a grain of Carthage) neither independent, nor a state, nor truly Croatia. It’s also explicitly rejected by the Croatian constitution.
The meme still kinda fits tho. It’s complicated and I wish luck to anyone diving into the subject.
