Something something self-sealing stembolts.

reverse the polarity, and a feedback pulse.
I never quite thought about until someone mentioned it on Reddit over a decade ago, but TNG is what it is living in paradise, while DS9 leans into the cost of maintaining that paradise.
But what I always interpreted it as, is it makes sense for DS9 to have darker themes than TNG because having 2 Star Trek utopia shows simultaneously could get a little stale.
ds9, also in paying the price of intruding on an unknown territory, where theres already a large military force and being ignorant that “they cant be stopped from exploring space where they are not wanted”, paraphrased from jadzia.
I really want Ronald D Moore and all the other TNG/DS9 writers who did their best to go around Berman in the 90s (to make strong and meaningful TV) to get the reigns of the franchise.
Just leave Ira Steven Behr out of it.
Ok, but why?
Because he’s an edgelord that looked at an utopian TV show and went “what if it’s all lies? Nothing can be wholesome or good”.
Now I like edgy shit as much as the next misanthropic metalhead, but Star trek was meant to be about what we could aspire to be. Turning that into warcrimes o’clock isn’t exactly what I want to see.
Fair enough.
Gene Roddenberry :
I want to create an optimistic TV show where humanity goes beyond petty squabbles, and creates a utopia among the stars, sharing our knowledge and efforts with aliens and being good people
Ira Steven Behr :
But what if it was all a sham and lies? Darkness envelops me and there is no god or good.
Rick Berman :
… Everything good at home Ira?
What about Voyager?
Voyager is Uncle Lester
At first you think, yes.
Then Neelix.
Neelix is the best!
My favourite Trek show. I’ve watched it so many times and I just love it.
And somehow Voyager is both and more.
Agreed, it’s my favourite.
From my understanding, these two don’t really get along (spouse watches Wednesday) but eventually learn to at least get along if not become besties.
I don’t like the idea of shows not getting along. Even if this is more or less how Sisko’s meeting with Picard went in ep1…
The shows are all best friends (especially the conflicting ones) it’s only some of the fans that suck with their “mine is better than yours” nah muthafuckas, all our shows are fantastic. Even if some made some questionable theme decisions , at least they all had faith of the heart.
Maybe Wednesday should be labelled The Star Trek Fandom, and Enid should be The Newest Star Trek Show. A big chunk of fans always gripe at first, complain about every little thing, but over time the new controversial show becomes accepted and loved as part of the greater Trek family.
Eh nope. Discovery and Picard are still dead to me
Their “reevaluation” window just hasn’t come yet. It’s really only been in the past couple of years that I’ve started seeing Enterprise getting praised as often as not. And obviously it’s not that every fan has changed their minds, I’m talking about the general attitude taken as a whole.
2 of the worst ideas of nutrek, by kurtzman. apparently academy joins the ranks, and the wierd movie they did.
TNG, DS9, VOYAGER and enterprise. NUTREK, not watchable. outside of LD/prodigy
Right: Star Trek: Enterprise
Left: Star Trek: Discovery
