The officer apparently tried to tuck a gun into his pants instead of using a holster, failed, dropped the gun, and menaced bystanders in response to his own failure

People need to read up on the Kent State shootings in 1970. National Guards “men” shot and killed people singing songs. 4 murdered, 9 more shot, then days later at UNM 8 students were stabbed with bayonettes.

There was an investigation, the Guard lied about being under sniper fire, most of these brave heros admitted they were scared because of rocks. No one was held responsible for a massacre of unarmed Americans.

America has a 50 year old problem of cowards with guns.

And we’re still talking about Kent State and UNM today as it had a serious affect on the country. But the sad part is, if something like this happened today, a third of Americans would blame the victims. Fox News would tell lies about what actually happened. And it would be swept under the rug and forgotten about by Christmas.

Some of those shot weren’t even protesters, they were just random students walking to class who were completely uninvolved.

Just back then? This is my first time reading this particular excerpt, but the “Black Hitlers” part sticks out. Conservative America really has been doing the same shit forever, it seems. Calling them that is in the same family as saying, “Antifa are the real fascists,” etc. Just feed their target audience some shit to parrot that, to them, feels salient but really is meaningless except for redirecting blame and stoking fear and hatred.

That guy is so double-dumb, as majority modern pistols won’t fire without a magazine even if they have a round in the chamber as an idiot-protection feature. Case-in-point. I suppose. Also LOL even calling them agents. Joke faux lol shits is a better name and I spent 1ms thinking up that name. Assclowns would be a better name. Traitors, treasonists, fascists, better yet.

It’s hardly a majority. Very few have a mag safety, and those that do often have it removed by their owners because it makes the weapon annoying to function check safely.

Well yeah, they took a job to basically run around and terrorize immigrants all day like its cowboys and indians. Can’t imagine that attracts a very high caliber individual, and the administration sure as hell isn’t turning anyone away.

I stayed just outside of DC a couple weeks ago. I went into a run-down Dunkin and it was operated entirely in Spanish aside from the cashier knowing just enough English to take orders from people who aren’t fluent in Spanish. I knew enough Spanish to be able to get my order when it was called. As I was leaving, a cop came in and started counting every brown person there. He made a big show of it, too, and people started panicking.

I honestly didn’t know what to do in that situation. I was hungover as hell, broke, and had to drive 5 hours to get home so I could wake up for work the next day. I decided to just hang out and make sure the cop knew that I was watching him. I had my phone out and ready to record if more serious shit started happening. After a few minutes, the cop went back outside to his squad car and I pretended like I totally just happened to be leaving at the same time. When I blatantly eavesdropped on the cop and his buddy in the squad car outside, I heard them laughing about the whole thing. Apparently terroizing immigrants and their families is a fucking game to those bastards.

The patrons of the place cleared out immediately after the cops were gone. I stayed parked at that Dunkin for a good half an hour after everyone who could leave did and nothing else happened.

I have no idea if I should have done something more in that situation. I wanted to tell the cop to get the fuck out of there. I wanted to say some witty shit like “Oh man, I didn’t order ice with my coffee.”

I kinda freaked out internally when I realized what was happening but I couldn’t bring myself to just leave despite my instincts telling me to. So I just made my presence and opposition to the cop known in a way that couldn’t (legally) get me arrested and hoped for the best.

I drive a school bus for a semi rural city in Arkansas. A large portion of the kids that ride my bus are Hispanic. I have had nightmares about this shit since the election.

I’m a white blonde blue eye cishet man and I’m still being hit by the unabashed cruelty and evil. I just want to get off.

The bullets fell out of his gun, too, and he didn’t notice them on the ground the whole time he was walking around even when he stepped on them. And I don’t think he put one in the chamber before the whole debacle got underway. If shit had gone sideways and he’d pulled the trigger, nothing would have happened, I think.

I thought maybe one of the spare magazines fell out of his vest, but it looks like he has 3 before and 3 after. I think he was unarmed that whole time.

Definitely. I do think though that in his imagined scenario where there was a threat of serious bodily harm from the crowd, that “BANG click click click click” event would have been about the worst possible thing that could have happened.

I mean the whole thing was imaginary. No one in the crowd was planning to do anything other than yell at him, and he pulled the gun out just from fear. I’m just kind of highlighting an additional angle of his lack of any competency. It was only the fact that no one was trying to hurt him that kept him safe, he pretty much did everything possible to put himself in additional danger.

Edit: Oh, directing random cars to drive around a few feet away from this volatile situation was just another element of incredibly dangerous stupidity. I feel like probably he just did it because he wanted to reestablish some kind of control, to give some instructions to somebody since none of the ones he was giving were being followed and that wasn’t how he thought it was supposed to happen because he’s Billy Badass and he’s supposed to be in charge.

He also jams his gun into his pants and then immediately shoves the hand of the guy they’re restraining into the same spot.

I’m no gun expert, but that seems like a bad idea.

Most modern pistols won’t fire if the magazine is ejected. Although not something one wants to figure out in the heat of the moment.

Even worse: When that gun was tucked in his belt like this, it doesn’t take much for the trigger to be accidentally pulled by a crease of his clothing or gear he’s carrying, resulting in him shooting himself in the pelvis. Also, had the suspect actually been violent there would have been a risk of him grabbing it. It was right there within easy reach.

The victim was very close to grabbing it after it fell out of the incompetent agent’s belt. I have to assume that’s what this quote is all about.

In a genuinely shocking development, DHS Assistant Secretary Tricia McLaughlin issued a statement Friday which said “The officer’s conduct in this video is unacceptable and beneath the men and women of ICE. Our ICE law enforcement are held to the highest professional standards and this officer is being relieved of current duties as we conduct a full investigation.”

This is how the riots start. Sooner or later one of these untrained ice agents will shoot a civilian because he is scared. Somebody in that crowd will shoot back…and then it begins.

            1. To clarify, I do not enjoy this either, but its more of a comment about the state of affairs. The fact that we’ve become so desensitized that everything feels unreal/surreal, the events feel almost as if it were a movie. Hence “popcorn”. Its a sarcastic comment, not to be taken seriously. Its like how people laughs when something bad is about to happen, its nervous-laughter, a response to trauma. Sorry if you interpreted this comment this wrong way.

            2. I’m also American, but I’m not white and I wasn’t born here in the US, I cannot afford to intervene. I’m also being persecuted by my previous country, and I can’t really put myself on the radar for two governments to come after me and my family/relatives, some of which aren’t citizens yet, so I’m bit of in a “Snowden” type situation, sorry, but I can’t do much. I’m afraid to go outside because xenophobes would tell me to “go home”.

That would get him shot in my state. This guy wasn’t masked, but if they are masked they can be considered criminals, a criminal pointing a gun at you is 100% self defense if you shoot him. It would never go to court.

No badge is about the same, but not as blatant/clear cut. You can say you thought he was a criminal, but the issue would need to go to court. In the end he pointed his gun at bystanders so shooting at him would likely be self defense … but how fair would the system be?
