But? Endorsing the Republicans for being “anti trust” while all the big tech bozos are sticking their heads right up Donald Trumps ass? Are they not forming the biggest trust right now with elmo pruning their whole government of regulatory bodies.

https://theintercept.com/2025/01/28/proton-mail-andy-yen-trump-republicans/ By this source, there is a clear inconsistency between the political view of the CEO and the values of the company.

But let’s just agree to disagree, this whole situation with proton is dwarfed by the actions of the US administration anyway.

Btw sorry for talking English in a French speaking sub 😅

The message by Andy Yen was stupid and worrying, but it was the endorsment of one decision by the Trump administration made by one member of the Proton team (an important one, sure, but just one). Going from that to “Proton endorsed the Republican party” is just not true.

Andy Yen looked more naive than anything else to me.

As “endorsement” means more or less “to support” or “to affirm” I don’t see the problem with my claim. But yeah, I could have been a little more precise :)

A full statement that refers the unravelment in the US politics regarding big tech, by Yen as a person, would be nice.
