I predict he’s going to do a great job, carry a lot of respect for the source material, get a season or two made before the network ruins it.

        The Bemperor

That said, I think they should focus on the Guard or even the Arbites. Have Marines just come in like a wrecking ball at some point and DEMOLISH some xenos but mostly tell the story of regular humans.

I’d love a Ciaphas Cain series but it doesn’t seem likely.

There was talk of Eisenhorn being serialized. No idea what happened to the project. The mobile game has shown the story is there and can be made into a movie (i.e. if you ignore the shitty gameplay and stabbing powerswords through doors and only focus on cinematics, it’s cool).

If they do anywhere close to how well they did with Fallout I’m fucking BEYOND stoked. Call me the conductor of the hype train idgaf I can’t even fathom being able to watch any show containing the 40k universe. I’m at half mast just thinking about it.

Paramount did Halo but yeah. I think a key difference here is that there is actually passion and care for the source material on the production team rather then a bunch of Nepo hires trying to do their own thing with an IP they have been forced to work with and don’t really care for.

The channel it appears on is often pretty far removed from the actual production company that produced it, and the actual creative team (writers, directors, showrunner, other producers).

Michael Schur learned how to produce a TV show from working on The Office (US) on NBC, and went on to be showrunner for Parks and Rec (NBC), Brooklyn Nine Nine (aired on Fox on most of its run), The Good Place (NBC), and Man on the Inside (Netflix).

Bill Lawrence was showrunner for Spin City (ABC), Scrubs (NBC), Cougar Town (ABC), Ted Lasso (Apple), Shrinking (Apple), and Bad Monkey (Apple).

Dan Harmon was showrunner for Community (NBC), Rick and Morty (Adult Swim), Strange Planet (Apple), and Krapopolis (Fox).

In each of these, you can see the continuity and similarities in production process and style, even if they’re on different channels.

Look to producers: creator, showrunner, certain executive producers with creative roles, casting director (for example, I’ll give anything a chance if it was cast by Allison Jones), with her track record), etc.

The actual network or streaming service it airs on is almost meaningless.

Two years after acquiring global rights to ‘Warhammer 40,000’, Amazon MGM Studios has launched the development of a TV series based on the popular game.

The decision aligns with a critical timeline detailed in Games Workshop’s recent financial report, stating that Amazon and the game’s manufacturer needed to finalize creative guidelines by December 2024 to maintain development rights.

      I think so, from Dec 2022, https://www.hollywoodreporter.com/tv/tv-news/henry-cavill-warhammer-40000-amazon-1235283251

      This article just adds,

The project recently gained momentum with the assembly of a mini-room, where writers collaborated to outline a creative direction for the series.

This teamwork has now paved the way for the TV series to proceed into development, though a showrunner has yet to be confirmed as negotiations continue.

So I guess progress has been made… But not much.

Better than Netflix. Or what Apple did to Foundation.

Amazon has a pretty good track record: Good Omens, Expanse, Tales from the Loop, The Boys, Fallout.

While I agree about Foundation, I really don’t know how anyone would properly adapt the book(s) and make something enjoyable to watch. The book is an important piece of sci-fi and inspired a lot of writers, but it really has aged like milk: it doesn’t even have a named female character until 3/4 of the way through the book, and even then it can’t pass the Bechtel test.

Fans said Dune couldn’t be done. Time skip is easy given the popularity of anthologies.

Gender swapping a character to modernize it is done all the time too.

While I agree with the sentiment:

          1. Torrents

          2. Shows like It’s always Sunny in Philadelphia, and Orville are owned by Fox which feeds profit to Murdoch to support Fox News. That’s far worse.

I don’t feel ok supporting Amazon or Fox.

And ofc rich things gonna have nice things (nice budget = at least nice looking results), but at the sauce it’s just really really dirty money being fatter.

There’s like over a hundred novels to choose from, some of them are pretty decent.

My guess is he’s going to do Gaunt’s Ghost by Dan Abnett. It’s good enough to be a stand alone series even if you don’t know much about the 40k universe.

He’s responsible for his performance within the bounds given to him by the writers and director. I haven’t seen any of the Superman movies, but his performance was by far the best part of the Witcher series.

Well, just so you know, within the bounds given to him by the writers and director, he’s a terrible Superman, unless people wanna argue Snyder specifically told him to act like a generic tough guy that doesn’t speak much. He also played the same character in The Witcher, which is really not who Geralt is. Admittedly, I dropped the series halfway through the first season.
