Bit of a tangent, but this pains me every time I read this in threads.

I wanted to join Lemmy after the Reddit exodus, found out that ml was “the main one” made by the devs and joined it. Last time I carefully tried to pick an instance was Mastodon, and I hardly ever found any content. Decided to check back in the other day, and every account except for the admin’s (like less than 50) was removed for inactivity.

I’m not some far-right or Russian troll, but because most of them are on that instance everyone on it gets this reputation.

Signed, European who’s afraid that the far-right movement on his continent will turn into an ultra-far-right turbo-movement now

If your “gotcha” is you prefer the genocide to get worse to “teach people a lesson”, you need to do some introspection as well.

No, I heard your gotcha. But the reality is standing to the side telling people “I told you so” is just sticking your head in the sand. You are enabling a worse genocide just for the sake of moral masturbation.

You might as well tell the people feeding the homeless they are “accepting homelessness” as well. Amounts to the same bullshit logic.

But when Trump enables a full scale genocide, you can pay yourself on the back and say “I had nothing to do with that”.

Trump is gonna triple-down on the Palestinian genocide and pull all support from Ukraine and probably pull out of NATO to let Putin do whatever he wants to Europe.

He’s also promised violence against Americans who oppose him.

If Trump wins because enough of you idiots couldn’t hold your nose and vote then the blood of those Palestinians is on your hands. You don’t get to absolve yourself because you chose not to participate in democracy.

You aren’t opposed to genocide because you couldn’t be assed to do the smallest thing to mitigate it.

I’m not going to play chess with a pigeon but one day you’ll have your first moment of introspection and I hope it results in your realisation that while not complicit in the “Biden-Harris Genocide” you are absolutely 100% complicit in each and every consequence of a Trump-Vance administration which includes the genocide of Palestine.

Is trump going to do anything different though?

Former President Donald Trump declared Tuesday that Israel must “finish the problem” in its war against Hamas

          https://www.nbcnews.com/politics/donald-trump/trump-israel-gaza-finish-problem-rcna141905

If the above is true, I don’t know why anyone would bring his up. It’s like choosing between two seats on a bus. One has broken glass on it, the other has broken glass and is on fire.

I’ve learned no lesson. I secured a permanent residency abroad the first time this chucklefuck was in office, and I’ve already bought my plane ticket out. I feel so, so awful for people who voted reasonably and are stuck there, and I encourage everyone who can to get out now, but I’ll be damned if I’m going to let the self-righteous attitudes of people with no sense try to punish me for exercising logic.

If you honestly believe the situation in Palestine will be better with the Cheeto in charge of the US, then you are insane.

The US is a deeply flawed democracy, and like it or not, any choice other than voting for the Democrats, including abstaining is a vote for the Cheeto.

But you are a .ml user, so you are either trolling or a useful idiot.

I said this before, and I’ll say it again, since both parties in the election (don’t try and claim that the greens have any hope of winning, they only serve to split the Democrat vote) seem disinterested in the horrific situation in Palestine, you pick the least bad candidate.

If you don’t, you get the worst candidate for everyone.

I am not American, but if I were, I’d pick Harris no question.

Since you are supporting Trump, tell me, how does is feel supporting a sexist, racist, convicted felon who also supports genocide?

Remember that in the US idiotic election system, any vote other than the Dems is a vote for the Reps, and any vote for the Reps is a vote for a worse society.

      Haha, yeah that’ll show em!

Now instead of having a president that supports the genocide of Palestinians you’ll have… checks notes … a president that supports the genocide of Palestinians. Wait there’s more here… doesn’t believe in climate change, a guy who actively wants to prove that vaccines don’t work actually in charge of health related shit, enabling the genocide of Ukraine (hey a whole new genocide!), pulling out of alliances and what’s this last fun one, threatening the already flawed foundations of US democracy by, among other things, threatening to deploy the military against political opponents.

Is that what winning and being morally superior looks like? Because it looks pretty awful from here.

Seriously? Fuck you. This supports the genocide of every LGBTQ+ person in all of North America, be it directly or indirectly. No one wants what is happening in Gaza. But, I have to say the potential genocide (in the complete erasure of culture as well as open murders with little to no consequences sense) here is even higher.

I have the unfortunate circumstance of being a trans woman in GA. I already have had to completely shut off most contact with people, both work and personal.

I’ve already had rocks thrown at me in an attempt to kill me (this was years ago, even). I already feel like I have to carry a gun. If things go the way they seem, I will even have to order in groceries because it will further empower the people that hate my existence.

The foreign policy is shit, no question. However, I don’t like the possibility of being raped and murdered by some asshole that thinks he understands Co² emissions after watching some video.

I have a lot to say here, especially as a very blue collar machinist. I will refrain, though.

In conclusion: by “avoiding” the genocide in Gaza (which may have been resolved), you have also doomed people like me to maybe live in fear for the rest of our lives.

Honestly I’m wondering if that’s why the margin Trump is winning is so “huge”. The US will never vote for a woman president. Both times Trump has gone up against a woman, he’s won. But against a man, he lost.

When CNN interviewed a black man at a previously Biden stronghold in Georgia, he said “women are emotional” and “I don’t think they make great leaders”

The men who voted for Biden in 2020 voted for Trump because they were afraid of a women being in a position of power.

          You’re right
