The basic moving paintings, like in the great stairwell: The painters infuse magic into them to make them move, make noise, etc. and some even have personality traits. But they’re very basic recreations.

The headteacher painting: The subject of the painting infuse the painting with a lot of “themselves” and their magic to basically make a limited copy.

Although as McGonagall says: It’s less than half of what they were in life. Which is why they don’t actually continue teaching or similar.

  • At least some of the protestors know it’s the fault of companies like airbnb and similar, and are advocating for restricting them(which is already in the works and was announced last month). They mostly want to limit the amount of private residences being rented out to tourists, to get more reasonable number of visitors.

The ones running around with water pistols and blaming most things on tourists, don’t understand very basic economics. Because while cutting off most tourism might indeed lower housing cost quite a bit. It will also massively lower the demand for jobs, salaries will plummet, etc., because so much of their local economy is tied to tourism. So relatively speaking many wont notice a big difference in percentage of salary spent on housing, if they block most tourism.

  • That’s because all the people who don’t have issues, aren’t going to make comments about not having issues in a community that is basically dedicated to shitting on it(seriously, check top posts. It’s not “haha linux funny meme”, it’s “windows bad” over and over again).

Even if they do make a commen, like you, they get downvoted by people who like to wallow in misery.

  • I don’t really disagree with you, and think she’s off in her assement, but she has brought them up in relation to the writing:

This band is so in touch for me with Jacob’s character. This really raw, uncontrolled emotion — where it’s not about some person who’s grown up and callused over and learned how to control things. It’s someone who’s feeling it for the first time and just wants to go out and blow things up. The song ‘Famous Last Words’ is a really romantic version of Jacob saying, 'Okay, I’m putting myself out there, and you’re probably going to break me, but that doesn’t change the fact that I’m still going to make the offer.

    -Stephenie Meyer

  • It just goes primarily after kids because it’s easier to drive them to terror (adult fears are more complex)

They weakened it, and did something that changed how it can interact with them by transitioning to a different state. Unifying, just like with the fight, as a way to overcome the power. That’s why they remember the way out after the act. Which shows that it was literally a way for them to escape the power, at least temporarily.

  • The sexual act connected childhood and adulthood. It’s another version of the glass tunnel that connects the children’s library and the adult library.

    -Stephen King

The book even specified that the intent was for them to be together and unified as a group again, like they had to be for the fight. And they instantly remember the way out after they’re finished. Just because they don’t spell out that their explicit intent was to escape him by having sex, doesn’t exclude that meaning.
