Trigger discipline wasn’t something that was taught until near the end of the Vietnam war, and it didn’t gain popularity for a while after that. Old vets would actually complain about the “safety bullshit” that the military introduced.

I genuinely think an armed Antifa or BLM march would do infinitely more for the gun control movement than every gun control rally ever held, literally just because it’d scare the hell out of Republicans. Though they’d probably try to make an exemption so it’s allowed for “their” guys but not anyone else.

Considering that black people are disproportionately convicted under current gun laws, many only having commitied the crime of illegally owning a gun for self-defense because they live in dangerous areas, areas made dangerous because of drug prohibition & decades of collective trauma from aggressive policing & socialoeconomic discrimination. Any additional gun law would probably be a hug blow to black communities.

“We declare our right on this earth…to be a human being, to be respected as a human being, to be given the rights of a human being in this society, on this earth, in this day, which we intend to bring into existence by any means necessary.”

Everyone’s commenting on the fact that he has his finger on the trigger, but trigger discipline wasn’t a popularized concept at the time of this photo, and possibly wasn’t even being taught by the military yet. Not to mention the fact that he’s not at a range, or in a safe situation. He was literally protecting his life, expecting an attack at any point. He’s ready to fight. He wasn’t being paranoid, considering he was eventually assassinated.
