Voyager.
I used “Reddit is Fun” for years on Reddit but when it came time to switch to Lemmy I picked Voyager (wefwef at the time) because the UI was the most similar. I tried many of the other popular apps and I was happy with most of them, but Voyager was (and is) my favorite.
It’s simple. Lots of text. Easy to use. Looks nice.
Voyager, because I need a replacement for Reddit after they booted me (not saying why, just know it was complete horseshit), and I heard Lemmy was the next-best thing, and Voyager was the best-rated in the iOS App Store.
Fuck apps, anything that can be done in a browser will be done in a browser for me

- Boost on old (2013) android phone. very convenient coming from RedReader on android
- Voyager on recent android phone. it’s good but kinda slow because it’s web-based
- Arctic on iOS (iPod Touch 7G). Mlem doesn’t support iOS 15, Voyager is slow/doesn’t fit small screen properly

I usually use the official Lemmy client in the browser, because it is minimalistic and fast on any device
Can I ask why anyone doesn’t use, like, a browser? What’s the benefit?
The browser doesn’t remember where I was in my feed when I go back from reading a post. It’s also slower
If it’s a FOSS app with support for image/video caching, then it maybe a good thing for people who have slow connections or who want to save data.

The same one I use on my laptop, Firefox/lemmy-ui.
I have three Lemmy clients on my phone: Blorp, Summit and Voyager. However, I mostly use Voyager. I think it’s the best app for Lemmy that I’ve tried so far. It’s the one I’m most comfortable with.
what does it give you over using your browser to access lemmy on your phone?
On phones, I generally find the usability worse on a browser than on an app.

but lemmy is fully functional w/o the apps and why i ask this question – what am i missing by using a browser instead?
i’ve tried the apps myself and couldn’t find a reason to justify keeping it around since most of them keep my user password.

I don’t think it is and it sucks because I’m so used to swipe to go back.

Except a specific image format, I’m not sure which one. But on certain specific images, the whole app hangs for a couple of seconds, and then crashes.
Interesting, the app has never crashed for me.
Jerboa, I was using Eternity by Bazalansky (Eternity is Infinity for Reddit but for… Lemmy) but it hasn’t been updated continuously, and I already had Jerboa as backup app just in case and it’s from the lemmy devs so it’s (for me) guaranteed to keep up with lemmy development
