And then Americans have the nerve to get pissy with Canada when their smoke gets over here. No offers to help, no well wishes. Just complaints. Typical.

The people emitting the carbon dioxide should pay for it, since climate change is responsible for much of the fire.

(This statement is not in disagreement with the post. See list.)

Obviously an illegal Canadian wildfire that crossed the border. ICE will shoot it any minute now.

As a WA state resident, believe me… We are paying for it. And we ain’t getting our money back.

Since global climate change is a liberal hoax, maybe liberal Americans should foot the bill…

Or some such bullshit according to Trump and conservative Americans

Blows my mind that Trump was raising a stink over the smoke when it was pouring into NYC and New England.

All things considered, I’d expect him to fan the flames much, much more literally.

Ok and the US is #2, only behind China.

I think you’ll find every country has contributed to this problem.

The difference is was the the President of the US that blamed Canada for the smoke, refusing to recognize that Global Warming is the problem. The post you’re replying to is not from any Canadian official, it’s just a joke on a shitty web forum.

I expected this message, but I didn’t expect it to be downvoted. Is Lemmy getting better? Probably not; the parent probably just posted it at the wrong time and the dogs did their piling.

It is true that Canada has a high per capita level of emissions. People definitely don’t do as much as they should and the popularity of stupidly huge trucks is absolutly a problem. One thing to consider tho is that winters are though and that definitely accounts for something, as well as the fact that it’s a huge territory. I’m definitely not proud of how our new government just decided that climate change can’t be adresses right now, but a big part of these measures are a direct reaction to trump trying to starve us. Because the united states are currently trying to break our economy if you didn’t know avout that. Americans are bringing the world back 50 years ago on every environmental issues, they can definitely go fucked themselves.

Sounds good to me, let’s make America pay for 11/12th of the cleanup and Canada can cover the last 1/12 as per their emission ratios

The point isn’t he wasn’t causing a fuss about CO2 emissions. It was smoke.
