Identity verification is one reason I preemptively moved away from reddit. Hasn’t hit my country yet, but I’m sure it will. And I’m not making any concession.

Yeah as this junk starts to encroach more and more on things it just means i either spend time finding ways around it, or go outside more often (and find ways around it in the outdoors version as well)

At no point would i ever go through with this crap.

Just reminds me of early internet “here’s a free thing, just give me your credit card #”

Nah ill just go without thanks.

It wont be impacting my privacy, it will be impacting my participation in the places where it applies. It will likely just push many to other platforms with even less interest in complying with this legislation, its where all the adults that care about their human right to privacy will be.

Lol you think people care about privacy. I know I do but the majority of people don’t read the policy updates.

USA and EU are moving to a Russian- or China-model regime. One little or big step at a time. And what are we citizens doing about that?

What’s fascinating about this is that major tech companies already monitor and record most internet users online activity, so it’s not the tracking that’s new, it’s who is demanding it and why. In other words, governments like the taste of surveillance capitalism so much that they are mandating it.

just went through a back and forth a few days ago with a guy telling me most people don’t want anomity on the internet or like in society with cameras. His argument is like. Most people are putting the cameras in. Its like yeah many people are hypocrites. They want a camera but don’t want every neighbor recording every step they take.
