plot twist: 君 (kimi - you) is a informal form used by men towards close women, like girlfriend/family/close friend (AFAIK, i’m learning Japanese obviously) and 僕 (boku - me) is rather casual too (used by men)

Duolingo always liked to sprinkle in some more edgy/weird sentences - exactly so people would post them to online platforms. Same with the icon changing to something weird once in a while. It’s an effective marketing tactic.

But it could also work for you remembering important words and constructions. I still remember that Sådan en fisk drikker ikke øl (such a fish doesn’t drink beer). “Interesting” means “easy to remember”, so I wouldn’t put it all on attempts to promote the app. But of course they do a lot of advertisement, hidden or not.

    The Six-Fingered Man
    Inigo Montoya

This monologue is taken from the movie The Princess Bride, in which it was written by William Goldman and performed by Mandy Patinkin. Proper credit must be given if you use this monologue in any form.

    Inigo Montoya:

I do not mean to pry, but you don’t by any chance happen to have six fingers on your right hand? My father was slaughtered by a six- fingered man. He was a great swordmaker, my father. And when the six-fingered man appeared and requested a special sword, my father took the job. He slaved a year before he was done. The six-fingered man returned and demanded it, but at one-tenth his promised price. My father refused. Without a word, the six-fingered man slashed him through the heart. I loved my father, so, naturally, challenged his murderer to a duel … I failed … the six-fingered man did leave me alive with the six-fingered sword, but he gave me these. (He touches a scar on each cheek) I was eleven years old. When I was strong enough, I dedicated my life to the study of fencing. So the next time we meet, I will not fail. I will go up to the six-fingered man and say, “Hello, my name is Inigo Montoya. You killed my father. Prepare to die.”
