The series ran from 2016-2018, but I had never even heard of it until after it ended. It was well-written and full of absurd humor akin to Police Squad!, The Naked Gun, Airplane!, etc. It was created by the lead/star of the Office, was led/starred by another the Office actor, and had countless other celebrity guest stars throughout. Any time I see the series mentioned, it is being praised. So, why was it not more popular during its initial run? Wrong network?

It was a TBS show. That network doesn’t get a lot of attention. Which is a shame as it has have had a number of great shows.

Well, I had no idea this existed until reading your post, so my first guess would be lack of / bad marketing

Probably similar reasons why Police Squad! (in color) failed, only then for Naked Gun to be a huge hit. Those Zucker style parodies seem to run very hot and cold with audiences, especially on TV. It doesn’t seem to matter all that much how good it is.

Idk but I freakin love this show. Its a way better spiritual successor to Naked Gun than the recent movie.

I thought the rwcwnt movie was great. Modernised it, while still staying silly. Referenced the old but wasnt a carbon copy. Edit:typo
