I love how the cloth is falling on your shoes to look like boots. Did you make it yourself? Do you have a pattern?

Sorry for the late reply. I got it as part of a Robin Hood costume a few years ago from Amazon. They are pretty good but the straps fell off ages ago and I need to add new straps so it fits properly around the shoe. It could be a tripping hazard and looks messy sometimes. Also, the cloth part around the leg falls down unless you tie it with something around your leg. You can hide that underneath the flap. There are better ones on Amazon though that actually stay supported. If you look up “medieval shoe covering” then you will find them.

Sadly fabric! Not real metal mail (chainmail) but I am saving up for real chainmail shirt and coif soon. I also have a full suit of plate armour I made from EVA foam and plastic. But eventually I will get real steel armour too. Also the gauntlets are part of that armour which I made myself. I did not make the rest of the costume though. I got that from Amazon. I got the sword from an online store called the Knight Shop.

if money is tight might want to buy links and start yourself. its a nice enough hobby like knitting but more manely :) with the pliers and all. don’t need to buy enough links to do the coif or a shirt. can just get enough to start working on a patch and learn the various versions of interlinking so you can decide what direction to go. can use cheaper metals first to and once you are sure what you want move to something better.

Thanks for the suggestion. It would be fun to experiment with some day though I have already thought of that and did lots of research how to make my own mail shirt and coif. However, a mail shirt and coif is not that expensive. I can afford it soon. There were just a few other things I need to get sorted out first. But I will probably get it in a few weeks. Plus, I am worried that I will waist wire if I try to make it myself since I will mess it up and get it wrong the first few times. I already did that with the rest of my armour, lol. Though it was fun and interesting to learn how to make armour even if it was not real.

yeah its definately a spread out the cost over time and takes much more time. not really sure it saves much. if you will be able to do it soon completely understandable. really the only reason to do the links yourself is for the hobby aspect.

I know this comment is old now but I actually did end up getting real chainmail! Just posted some pics. It was quite heavy but not as heavy as I thought and I am getting used to it. I could easily move around and stuff. A lot easier then making it myself.

Thanks! I am using it for reenactment in different castles. Sadly in the UK ren fairs are not a thing though we do have medieval fairs that are similar but they are not as frequent. Though I am hopefully going to a tournament and participate in one in August but just as meet and greet.

Sadly, many of our castles and such places are run by volunteers and the organisations who run them are not very good as they used to be. I wish we had more. We do have medieval events at certain castles but they are always quite far away and hard to get to. So maybe people do go just not around me. Though looking forward to going in August. It will be fun.
