soooo are we gonna fund the U.S. postal service so that letters can actually arrive in a reasonable timeframe? cuz you can send it like a month in advance and have it still not arrive by election day.

it’s so strange to me because aren’t the elderly the ones who overwhelmingly vote via mail-in ballot? the same elderly who are consistently electing these republican fucks? why do they want to disenfranchise their own voters?

Let’s be clear, it’s not just elderly, but rural people who have the most trouble, and especially elderly in rural areas.

So yes, it’s self inflicted wounds for GOP in this regard most likely. But since the Dems want to encourage voting, GOP naturally has to reject it. Plus they’ll also hurt poor folk who can’t drive to polls so that’s a risk with taking for them, I guess.

I’m excited for the day MAGA seniors try to vote with their expired DLs and spend hours crying on FB that the Democrats are stealing the election

The postal service has moved franking of letters from local post offices to distribution centres so most votes won’t reach polling stations by election day.

Roberts’ only thing has ever been voter disenfranchisement.

Sure, Imperial Presidency, but he doesn’t care that much about it. Voter protections though? Oh man, he hates those.

    Following ruling after this.

Supreme court rules USPS lowering staffing during elections and forbidding overtime after laying off 50% of staff is no problem, and the 80% of mail in ballots that were not delivered on time due to staffing changes is legal.

The first paragraph “The Supreme Court of the United States seemed to be leaning towards blocking state laws that allow mail-in ballots that are postmarked on or before Election Day to still be counted if they arrive later, in a case that could have major impacts on November’s elections.”

Yeah, then further down, some states don’t allow that already. Why do they not care about states rights? If the states want that, then they already have it implemented.
