CNews is a top news channel, at a similar level as BFMTV, owned by another billionaire family.C8 and CNews both have the reputation of popularizing conservative and far right ideas, notably with Éric Zemmour, who then became a far right presidential candidate (further right than Marine Le Pen).
CNews already had 2 other Russia Today journalists, Igor Kourachenko and Antoine Cléraux.C8 and CNews both have been fined record amounts for fakes news, racism, homophobia and other abuses by the French media regulatory public authority.
In 2025, due to fines and other duties not respect, C8 was eventually removed from the authorized list of digital TV channels (TNT) by the authority. It ended it.
