I’m really happy for you! A more accessible living space is such a treasure. Last time I was out in my wheelchair, I encountered crazy accessibility problems. At a hospital, of all places. Nowhere is safe.

One thing I love about my condo complex is its about as good as you are going to get without being a facility. You can get on the elevator and out the front door and into the outdoor parking with no steps. The garage has two steps but you can request a ramp be put up and is always up in the building where someone can’t handle them. Downside is each building has one elevator so if it goes out you can be trapped for some time. If your lucky just hours but in some cases the repairs went for days. Unfortunately we are running through funds earmarked for renovation I know we will eventually need for my wife while I have been unemployed. I have been kinda hoping we could swing going to a place with elevator redundancy but everything is up in the air now.

    Congratulations!

it does have a ridiculously heavy door

I don’t know who decided such door would be put to any building build to accomodate handicaped people but I’m curious to know which handicap they have.
