I can think of one: food.

That’s pretty much all I can come up with.

    Oh sure. eating meat, not eating meat, eating bugs. Additives, super processed, HFC’s, plastics in food, environmental impacts of food production, nitrates, food packaging. Nothing at all reaches into politics on that. Ethnic foods.

      /s I hope?

      • eating meat -> vegetarianism/carnivorism -> environmentalism/global climate change/ethical treatment of animals/ethical treatment of humans -> politics
      • additives/plastics in food -> government regulation of ingredients/maximum allowed pollution levels/rules limiting plastic packaging -> small/big government/regulation vs. personal freedom -> politics
      • ethnic food -> immigration/integration/multiculturalism/isolationism/white cultural genocide -> politics

      I don’t know why there should be a divide on beliefs about climate change between Republican/Democrat political parties, but given that there certainly currently is, climate change and everything related is now political speech.

      Yeah I worded it imprecisely - I was l looking for a topic that could potentially not involve politics, because lol you are absolutely right that there is nothing at all that is safe from political implications.

        Ok so like a topic that if you bring up is not more than likely to turn into a political discussion. I think thats more about the people than the subject. A lot of geek things will remain about geek things when talking with geeks but someone can politicize em im sure.

          Not quite, b/c as you said that is also extremely unlikely as well. I meant more like something that is not immediately guaranteed to instantly turn into politics. Food, as you mentioned, could, and perhaps among certain people may even be likely to, but it is not guaranteed to (proof: a previous post here).

          But most topics these days (caveat: centered around the USA, as in appropriate to make a post here about) feel like they would fairly quickly if not instantly turn political.

    Whether it’s more important for Bethesda to get out another entrant in the Elder Scrolls series or in the Fallout series.

    Been doing a lot of pickling lately. Sourkrout with apple cider vinegar, coriander, dill, garlic, and crushed red peppers is damn good on a hotdog.

    Things are really just very far gone. Corrupt governement. Elites sucking up all the wealth like black holes. Political polarization so they make us hate each other to take the focus off of them. It’s sick.

    Dating. I’m back in the dating world after a long hiatus and it is so much more difficult than when I was younger.

      Dating isn’t political for you? Most people have political views that instantly disqualify them for me. I expect to be single for a long time.

    Fun fact: the sun dawns on Eastern Brazil before Southern Ireland. In different time zones. 🤷🏼‍♂️ Humans are ridiculous.

    Motorsport. Other than “Let’s Go Brandon” several years ago, most motorsport personalities and events are not politically charged and any drama surrounds the race or strategic calls.

    I even went to the Vegas F1 race last year and it was strictly sport and entertainment.

    I have yet to go to a racing event where the conversation ended political.

      I’m only up on F1, but did you miss the blacked out Mercedes era? When Hamilton was championing all kinds of social causes? Mohammed Ben Sulayem put a hard stop and started censoring the grid, and there’s ongoing debate around Saudi influnce in the sport that’s pretty political.

        I guess from what I’ve seen it hasn’t been the focus. It’s not been as present as I’ve seen in other places. I’m not even sure it’s possible to entirely escape politics until you start approaching the abstract. Politics are people at the end of the day.

          Yeah, that’s kind of my point it used to be a lot more prevalent than today. FIA seriously clamped down with the change in leadership, so you don’t see it any more.

          Edit- and not to say any of these causes should even be “political”, but that’s where we are. I can assure you there was plenty of bitching during race day.
