What do you think, this is the first time I’ve used pink nail polish. I was borrowing the colors and wanted something between the mauve color on the left and the light-pink color on the right, so I did a base coat of the mauve and covered it up with two lighter coats of the light-pink color.

And of course the next day the polish was chipped and a few fingers actually sloughed off 🙃 I need to invest in the equipment so I can do gel polish.

I’ve been filing the sides more so they become more curved and less square. I find it allows me to grow my nails longer, and I have fewer torn or broken nails this way. At least so far!

If you want to actually mix two colours, get a separate brush and just mix a drop of one polish and a drop of the other on a non porous surface like a bit of tinfoil. About the chipping: are you using a decent top and base coat and wrapping the tips?

So cleanly done! I can never get them looking that neat. It’s a beautiful color too!

I know, I’m so sad 😭 One of the nails literally come off entirely the next day. I was incredulous - and now three other nails have similarly sloughed off. I think it could be a bad bond of the base clear coat with my nail, I might need to like clean my nail with acetone first or something so it bonds better.

So much to learn, but I did this on a whimsy, so it’s OK if it doesn’t last, it was always imperfect. 😁

It’s pretty and I like the shape of your nails. If it bothers you they don’t last, be sure to do your toes, because there’s much less problem with chipping. You don’t work your toetips as hard as you work your fingertips.

Thank you!! I’ve recently taken up filing my nails consistently to shape them, it’s been nicer than I expected. I need to learn more about how to take care of my nails properly, how to strengthen them and properly file them, etc.

And the toes tip is so spot on, I literally have a gel pedicure on my nails from April 😆
