Am German and am living in my second apart now since moving out. This is absolutely not a thing. You pay your rent on time and that’s it. Anything else on top would be inappropriate.
Edit: In case this is a whoosh moment, we do absolutely pay a tip. Like 20%-ish
It depends on the landlord. Some have built-in kitchens that come with the rental “free of charge”, some expect you to furnish the kitchen yourself, usually offering some kind of discount because the kitchen isn’t included.
In my current flat, the previous renter had installed their own kitchen and sold it to us as to not have to move the entire kitchen to their new flat. But it varies a lot from flat to flat.
What we usually don’t have is fully furnished flats and houses as people in the US oftentimes do.

I’m of course just shitposting. It is indeed a woosh moment.
Don’t you guys have to bring your own kitchen or something when you rent a place? At least in the US we get a kitchen out of the deal.
