When I was a kid we had the Playboy Channel which i was not allowed to watch. It served very soft core porn 24/7.
I would watch it every chance I got of course. I was utterly convinced, based on nothing*, that my father had some device hidden in his room that monitored what channels the television had been on. I figured the imagined device could only track the last X number of channels watched.
So I would have one eye on booba and the other eye monitoring every car that drove by out front so that when my parents got home I could quickly race the television through a bunch of channels, rendering the tracking device I had dreamed up useless! This went on for years 😂😭
Playboy? To my knowledge Playboy has never acknowledged the existence of alternatives to heteronormative sexuality beyond some spicy faux-“lesbian” spreads clearly laid out for the heterosexual male eye.
They’ve been decent LGBTQ+ allies over the years, especially in the '60s and '70s, taking some very strong editorial stances in favour of alternative sexuality, but in terms of actual content, they were always laser-focused on the male heterosexual eye, even when showing putative “lesbians”.
They knew their market and catered to it with precision.
