Alex is part of San Francisco International Airport’s “Wag Brigade”, a team of animals that are certified by the San Francisco SPCA’s Animal Assisted Therapy program to help those in public spaces feel less overwhelmed with their surroundings.
I have to think a rabbit is going to be paralyzed with fear the entire time.
Normally, yes but Alex has been doing this for years. He’s a giant breed and they’re much calmer than most smaller rabbits. He travels all over and just radiates calm wherever he goes.
Don’t they have to be constantly eating or they spontaneously combust
Having a rabbit on my lap at a baseball game would make me MORE anxious, not less…
Some rabbits will sit on your lap and snuggle you the whole time. Some rabbits will wait until you relax and then bolt into the crowd. It depends on how they’ve been socialized, but if you didn’t raise them, you won’t know which it is until it tries to escape.
