the documentary “Hot Coffee” explains this whole thing in incredible detail.

TL;DW: the McDonald’s lawsuit that was about a woman spilling hot coffee on herself and was awarded almost $3million was proper because the coffee wasn’t just “hot”; it literally scalded the flesh off of her it was so hot. That’s the thing everyone doesn’t know.

Third degree burns to her genitals. Yeah. The massive PR campaign that they ran is messed up. That should have been enough to put them out of business on ethical grounds.

It kills me that what most of us got from that is, “These idiots will even sue when they find out coffee is served hot! Look how stupid they are!”

Meanwhile she literally only wanted them to pay her hospital bill, a paltry sum comparatively.
