How much do native Greenlanders like being governed by Denmark, would they conceivably be better off as US citizens? Obviously self governance is best but could they defend their own territory in that case. I think there’s a case to be made for this idea and few Americans regret having Alaska as part of the union.
Last time this idea was brought up, the Danish response was clear: Denmark can’t sell Greenland because it’s not ours to sell. The Greenlanders rejected the offer.
There’s been decades of collaboration between Denmark and Greenland on establishing autonomy and independence of Greenland. It appears they are not interested in becoming integrated into a different state, but would rather continue that process.
Lets see here… giving up social nets and universal healthcare, adopting policies that are destroying their home, very likely never be granted statehood, thus have little say in federal politics…
Im going to go with a strong no. They arent better off as US citizens.

But indeed, it’s up to the people of Greenland.
Greenland is autonomous, it is part of the kingdom but governs itself.
Hope that helps.

It’s already a self governing territory. And Americans will treat the Natives probably even worse than the Danish do nowadays
And lose their Schengen passport? And have to adopt to a foreign language?
There’s probably health care they’d lose
We don’t ask honest questions around here buddy.
it may be an honest question, but surely a stoopid question.
There’s an actual answer to the question below.
