Oct 14 (Reuters) - California is investigating five possible human cases of bird flu among dairy farm workers, in addition to the six cases previously confirmed in the state, the state health department said on Monday.

Bird flu has spread to 100 dairies in California and 300 nationwide, according to the U.S. Department of Agriculture. There have been 19 confirmed human cases this year among farm workers exposed to sick poultry or dairy, including the six confirmed cases in California this month.

The risk to the general public from bird flu remains low and pasteurized dairy products are safe to consume, federal officials have said.

Specimens from the five possible cases are being sent to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention for confirmation and are expected to arrive early this week, said the California Department of Public Health.

The possible and confirmed cases originated on nine different dairy farms and the individuals had mild symptoms and were not hospitalized, the state said.

nothing that can’t be solved by underpaying immigrant labor even more severely, forcing 15 people to squeeze into a bedroom instead of 12

The risk to the general public from bird flu remains low and pasteurized dairy products are safe to consume, federal officials have said.

I’m not a conspiracy theorist but I have to say I’m starting to wonder if the federal government will ever admit there’s a slightly greater risk. By that I mean - right now maybe they say danger is ~0.1 on a scale of 0 to 10. But then one day they the media will report the danger might be a 3 or a 4. There will be weird silence from the federal government and probably state governments too. They’ll be trying to triangulate and find the lowest possible believable number. In the following days the governments will lie to try to control panic and say “Well, maybe it’s a 1 but not a 5.” And then they’ll say “Well, maybe it’s a 1.5 perhaps higher.” And as time goes on they’ll admit to more and more danger.

They’ll damage their creditability with the public. When I think of trust and how it can shatter - I think of the toughness but fragility of Prince Rupert’s drops.

    Prince Rupert’s drop

Prince Rupert’s drops (also known as Dutch tears or Batavian tears) are toughened glass beads created by dripping molten glass into cold water, which causes it to solidify into a tadpole-shaped droplet with a long, thin tail. These droplets are characterized internally by very high residual stresses, which give rise to counter-intuitive properties, such as the ability to withstand a blow from a hammer or a bullet on the bulbous end without breaking, while exhibiting explosive disintegration if the tail end is even slightly damaged.

In nature, similar structures are produced under certain conditions in volcanic lava, and are known as Pele’s tears.

dons a tinfoil hat that would put sultans to shame

Is the whole raw milk thing actually some kind of psyop to get Americans to willingly and enthusiastically cause a bird flu epidemic in this country?
