Four people died after a Tesla crashed and burst into flames, while a fifth person narrowly escaped after a bystander broke open a window.

As a European i wonder how lack of mechanical opening could pass safety norms.

The last one is: remove the liner in the cargo compartment in the door, pop a flap on the bottom and pull the little tab on the cable that comes out. Even of your know, in a full panic it’s going to be hard.

Use the metal part of the seat belt to smash the window is going to be easier in panic mode.

That last video is clearly someone at Tesla being maliciously compliant with the safety rules to check off a box and pass inspection. Whoever designed that does not actually care about safety.

The windows are laminated I believe, so they won’t shatter. It’s unfortunately quite common in many modern vehicles now. It used to be just the front windshield.

They do their own safety checks.
