Open Source@lemmy.ml•Gaël Duval: The Path to a New Smartphone EcosystemEnglish
23·9 days agoNice read.
The entire smartphone ecosystem is designed to be used almost exclusively through Google or iOS services: government apps, banking apps, prepaid health-insurance apps, and countless other examples. Even though a phone is a handheld computer, it’s far from being a computer in the sense of giving users real control over the software they run.
That’s for me one of the biggest problem.

Open Source@lemmy.ml•Sectigo’s Wrongful Revocation of RustDesk’s EV Certificate: A Concerning Precedent for the Software Security Ecosystem
5·30 days agothe conclusion:
Sectigo’s wrongful revocation of RustDesk’s EV certificate is not simply an isolated error — it highlights a structural vulnerability in the certificate trust ecosystem. […] This incident must not be ignored. It is a warning that the certificate authority model needs stronger accountability and oversight.
For me it’s a wonder and a mystery that this kind of system based on trust is working worldwise today. 🙃

131·1 month agoHo!! That’s a good news for me! 😊😊😊
I never though about it, but that makes a lot of sens.
That looks simple when someone (you) say it simply.
Thank you for that. 😌

The article is nice and the finals observations are saddly so true :/ :(
