Cash won’t do much good when there’s nothing to be bought at any price. Better than nothing, I guess.
People often seem to be of the opinion that crisis is black and white, all or nothing, but there is a real sliding scale of disaster. Cash works pretty well for crises like ATMs going down, blackouts, internet outages, etc.
Why didn’t you remove the server? This would have saved valuble money.

You’re absolutely right, I did just pipe the output from my confabulation unit through to /dev/stdin.
I mean there are schemes similar to this targeted at women. There’s no obligation of them to consider under-represented groups of men — I don’t really see any difference in what this charity is doing.
I am sure you can do nothing wrong, but there is such a thing as being respectful of others experiences.
I also wonder how many shipowners and insurers will be happy to let their ships enter past the strait into the gulf if they’re not 100% confident they’ll be able to get back out again. If it happens once, the chances of it happening again generally increase.

Ugh… I fear for the future of my sex. Sometimes, I want to slap some basic respect into other guys. Nothing fancy or philosophical, just “don’t be a dick, leave other human beings in peace” kind of common sense. Yet it feels like a losing battle.
The problem isn’t restricted to one sex/gender. I may have commented below, with what I can confidently say is a politically unpopular opinion, but the discussion quickly degenerated into claims that I was ‘mansplaining’ and being told to ‘fuck off’ and shut up.
I’m sorry that my (historic) experience of the community doesn’t align with what you need to believe.
