This is only an executive order. We know those are meaningless. I’m curious if there will actually be research on something that could go back to being illegal at any time.

Wow that brought back some memories! Armagetron and tuxracer were the 3d games to play on Linux and test your graphics drivers. I can’t believe there is still a strong community around this.

I feel like you should have to be able to spell college before you can be admitted…

This actually doesn’t seem bad? I agree with the article that an execute order isn’t enough, congress needs to take action.
We spend more on health care per person and have worse outcomes than any country in the global north.
That has a lot to do with privatizing all our medical facilities and wasting a ton of money through private insurance.

One is a sci-fi and one is fantasy in space. Totally different genres.
In the early 2000s my hp printer had a paper jam and the error message from cups was “printer on fire!”
I burned some mix cds for a 90s themed birthday party a few months ago. Those CDRs had been sitting in a spindle in my attic for 20 years and still worked!

As someone who relies on media mail for my small business, rates have increased every 4 months for the last 5 years.
This is purposeful. The administration is not interested in a public post office and would love to see it privatized.

Agreed. I much prefer listening to full albums. Even stuff I bought a long time ago as a teenager for one song, I’ve enjoyed going back and listening to the complete album.

I burned a cd for niece a few months back. She was in awe. Surprisingly that spindle of CDRs that have been sitting in my attic for 20 something years still record just fine!
I also have ripped all my CDs as flacs and stream them with navidrome. Convenience is nice and beats syncing to an mp3 player.
I also have a raspberry pi hooked up to my stereo with an nfid reader and print out cards with album art. Just select the one you want, drop it on the reader, and the album plays.

Instead of disowning use exec or xdg-open

I thought it was Larry Ellison’s son that is about to own this?

That’s because it’s dystopian fantasy not dystopian sci-fi

Go to your local library. Many have a great selection on blu-ray and dvds. Having to select something from a shelf is way more enjoyable than the endless scroll of junk streaming services give you. I am now actually purposefully selecting movies and shows to watch and making time and effort to finish them instead of just streaming random stuff.
Plus you get commentaries and bonus features.
Yup. When I entered college in computer science in 2001, there was an all your base belong to us joke in it, which means it was at least a year old
I was an early adopter of a cd burner but I still found Zip drives to be way better for casual storage. CDrs were great for audio cds or video cds, but cd-rws were slow and painful. Zips were great for quick storage where you didn’t have to think about filling up a cd permanently.
