Technology@lemmy.world•Xbox wants you to pay 24 to 40 cents per hour to stream games you already bought: Time-based a la carte charges come on top of the purchase price for the games themselves.English
1·2 days agoThe initial claim was that thin clients are the “default” for large companies, and yes we can confidently say that’s bullshit.
I’m not surprised that healthcare could be an exception, given all the pii that is dealt with there. But thin clients are not the default at most companies.
It’s insane how people can’t just admit they they’re blatantly wrong about something and instead play this gaslighting game where they pretend something is unknowable.
The global size of the thin client market is less than $3 billion. Do you honestly believe that covers most “large corporations” on the planet? I guarantee you that employers with thin clients as the default workstation aren’t just a minority, they’re a niche market. https://finance.yahoo.com/technology/articles/thin-clients-global-strategic-business-103200706.html

1·2 days agoThe default? I’ve never worked for a corporation with thin clients as the main workstation for employees. The only place I worked at with thin clients was a federal government office.
Can’t believe this nonsense has so many updoots.

Steam@lemmy.ml•Demands for AI Filter on Steam Grow as Next Fest Is Flooded with AI Slop
2·5 days agoWhat accountability? Companies will just say “no AI” so they aren’t filtered. How will you enforce the tag while also providing due process for developers?

Steam@lemmy.ml•Demands for AI Filter on Steam Grow as Next Fest Is Flooded with AI Slop
21·5 days agoNah he’s right. If you add an AI filter then companies will just stop tagging their games as AI generated. It’s not a matter of anyone outsmarting anyone else it’s just common sense. There wouldn’t be any progress here, we would actually make things worse.
Steam needs to do something on their own, or crowd source it somehow. But they’ll never do that. They don’t even review games for quality level as it is.
Yeah and I’m glad she doesn’t. However for me it felt different because I always assumed it was some exagerrated reality TV thing and instead it was a life or death scenario that hit close to home.
The title of the comic is “Jucika wants to sleep” which is a pretty big hint.
Also the animated version at the top of the thread makes it clear the radio is blaring music
There’s some info here but not all the details: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Woman_yelling_at_a_cat
Basically the woman in the meme was in a season of Real Housewives. She was yelling at someone who was gossiping about her husband being a violent abusive prick. The woman was trying to hide his abuse because she was scared her husband might kill her or their kids if the abuse became public. So she’s basically in full flight or fight mode and terrified for her life in the meme picture because this other asshole is outing the abuse in front of everyone.
Her POS husband ended up committing suicide so at least she’s safe now though. But it hit me pretty hard to find all of this out because I went through a similar situation with my mom when I was a kid.
It’s one of my favorites too but I found out the reality behind it and it’s way darker and more depressing than I realized
Passive aggressive? This is just regular aggressive, guy. And the man deserves it for blaring his music at night with the window open.

“an actual flying car” “product demonstration” lmao
It’s neither a flying car nor a product that will ever be sold on the market. Crazy how gullible the average person is.
I bet you’re one of those people who insisted FSD was right around the corner 10 years ago.

This has been happening ever since I can remember and I’m 40. Paper ballots need to be mandatory in all states and the vote counting software should be open source.
It’s fucking insane that we allow private companies to hide their code from us.
