there’s NeoDB in case you didn’t know, it is not solely for movies so maybe that’s not quite what you’re looking for but i switched to using that from Letterboxd a while ago and have been pretty happy with it for my purposes.

just got a budget handheld console and the first thing i have been playing is GameBoy Color game Hamtaro: Ham-Hams Unite! it is a simple collecting game with some puzzles, and very cute (i am terrible at the bowling & soccer mini-games though)

these are all great! the ginkgo leaves are especially lovely, really nice colour choices & that little bit of detailing, just super pretty!
iirc in swedish it means both that and married lol

cheers, i joined the community! occasionally i will post on !artshare@lemmy.world or !shitty_art_share@piefed.social but it’s always good to have some other places to see others’ work & post too. i feel like a lot of what i do doesn’t really fit many places so weird probably works for me as an umbrella.
and good on your son for sticking with drawing, i think it takes a strong will to push through the initial awkward period & the frustrations it can bring, but it is so rewarding once things start coming out closer to how you wanted them.

ahh thanks! i have been drawing for a little over 2 years now, so i still have a lot to learn, but i am enjoying the journey very much!

thank you! it’s still a good while away from done and i am perpetually haphazard in my process but here is where i am at with it currently:

pretty chill for me, just working on a drawing that was supposed to be birthday present to myself (now belated but oh well) & watching a video game stream VOD for the illusion of company.
hope you enjoy Obsession, i haven’t seen yet but everyone i know who has seen it seems to have liked it!
prob down to personal preference as to which is better. i will say i dislike how often i cry but i know there are people who wish they could cry more. so really we just need to figure out some sort of mutualistic distribution system so everyone can get a balance suited for them at any given time.

good tips! i have done that same kind of gradation with simple borders and it works nicely so it makes sense to try it on these too, it will look a lot more coherent i think, and give the forms a bit of depth.
i think i need to be more patient when it comes to hatching, i can get it looking okay in isolation but once i try to put it on a form it looks chaotic and it is probably because i am rushing, whereas stippling feels a lot more meditative to me so it encourages me to slow down and relax! possibly why i enjoy it more too, haha.

thankyou for the encouraging words! i hugely prefer doing stippling instead of lines for shading so i wanted to see if it could work for scrolls, i will probably try again with a larger piece to see if the effect can be clearer (as well as keep practicing hatch lines anyway, maybe one day i will get the hang of them!)

unfortunately yes

fwiw pretty sure your post was duplicated over on !fedibridge@lemmy.dbzer0.com earlier today and there’s a little bit of discussion over there too including comments in support of points you made. idk why that person jumps to calling troll given you even mentioned a specific community you were posting in, even without initially knowing your username it was very easy for me to see that you have been regularly active in there for a year at least.

immensely enjoying Obstacles off this, cheers!

agreed, a really joyful cast with great chemistry, and a very uplifting finale.

i have found the genre/subgenre descriptions on RateYourMusic quite handy, when clicking through there is usually a bunch of example albums and/or curated lists, it’s been really helpful for when i just start dipping my toes into something but don’t know much about it.
apparently it’s a tie between Exuviæ by Rendez Vous and DTLA by Mareux
finally got around to watching Investigation of a Citizen Above Suspicion (1970) and it was very good, about as subtle as a brick to the face but i think it kind of needed to be.
