I always think about this. Like a lot of the engineering youtubers I follow do some pretty dangerous stuff. They take the necessary safety precautions, but I have no idea how insurance can work when you’re flagrantly disobeying OSHA regulations.

As an independent operator, you can abuse yourself in a way that legally nobody else is allowed to.

  • Or is it yet another example of social decay, that parents can’t even discipline/raise their kids well enough to allow them outside without leashes?

From what I’ve heard, the expectations of behavior for children in public spaces has gotten a lot more strict. People generally have very little patience for your kid’s antics. Also fewer mothers are dedicated homemakers, and when time and energy are tight, a leash might be a good bandaid.

  • In an attempt to answer your question, there tends to be a lot of misinformation following events like this. Often footage doesn’t even need to be AI or altered, it can just be footage from other events that looks similar that’s posted in good faith by people trying to spread the news. I assure you some of the clips flying around at the moment are from the George Floyd protests, or even a sports hooligan riot, or from events that didn’t even occur in this country.

At least in theory (and theory is doing a lot of heavy lifting with my attempt at answering your question), a news publication has an obligation to in some way determine the veracity of what they’re publishing.
