I am also assuming margins on motherboards with EDSFF are significantly higher and OEMs want to avoid cannibalisation.

One would think semiconductors fabbed by these companies would be used almost exclusively for the Chinese market. In theory, tariffs/sanctions should have no impact on their business.
Alphane Moon@lemmy.worldOPMto Hardware@lemmy.world•U8: Cheap gaming handheld for under $50 offers long battery lifeEnglish51·1 day agoSpecifications:
- Screen: 4.0-inch IPS full viewing angle, OCA full lamination, 800*680 resolution
- CPU: AK3326 quad-core ARM Cortex-A53, 1.5GHz frequency
- GPU: Dual-core G31 MP2
- RAM: 1GB LPDDR4
- Storage: 64GB TF/MicroSD
Not too bad for the price. Considering it runs linux, you should have the freedom to customize this device.
The biggest drawback is the 4 inch screen, but I guess one can’t complain considering the price.

The classic example is transaction processing (that’s what those IBM mainframe with 4 way and 8 way SMT are often used for).

Apple has motivation to highlight how Apple Intelligence is massive success (irrespective of whether it is true or not) and Google has an incentive to play up the strength of their service.

I don’t know how it works with Raspberry Pi OS, but with DietPi I was forced to do a clean install after a borked update to the bookworm base. I stick to defaults and in-built configuration tools with DietPi.

Seems like they are being paranoid. I don’t get the impression we have the capabilities for a big strike that would have immense symbolic impact (e.g. on the military units taking part in the parade in Moscow).
