    I think OPs point is that this “Frank” guy is still in your country’s name.

    That’s like saying there was a King Godzilla once, you get rid of him, and then call your country “Republic of Godzilla.”

    I’m not saying you don’t have a point. I just understand the parent poster’s point too.

      The thing is that the Frank did not rule the country while living in isolation. They got married, got kids and today a significate amount of the french population has some Frank blood. If Goodzila had rule a country for more that a thousand years and that the population of the country was mostly its children it wouldn’t be much a stretch to call it Godzillaland after it loses its position.
