      Nazism, like all forms of fascism, falls apart without an enemy. Even if they managed to kill all the Jews and Slavs, people would still be murdered on the suspicion of being Jews and Slavs for as long as Nazis are in power.

        i’ve long held that if fascists couldn’t designate a racial or national enemy, they’d play up the distinction between men and women as their primary struggle. And if they couldn’t do that they’d go after certain age groups. They’d find something.

        i think that’s part of the reason fascists in America have latched so heavily onto being anti-LGBTQ. They’re slowly realizing that open racism is broadly unpopular, so they’re flailing about trying to coherently designate a different enemy. What they fail to realize is unspoken racism is perfectly permitted in America, but they can’t help themselves. They have to say the quiet part.
