    Yes. It a key part of the prison social contract between the admin office and inmates. Once a month inmates get to choose where to order out from and the prison will order a few hundred pizzas or sandwiches or whatever. In exchange the inmates don’t have a riot or stab a guard that month. At least this is the case in certain US states, the US south and states like Arizona are just a sadistic shit show.

    I remember during the peak of COVID there was a bit of a crisis at a certain California state prison after some idiot decided COVID precautions meant not ordering the entire prison the Pizzahut they had been promised. May not seem like a big deal but these little treats are one of the few things to look forward to and keep you connected to the world outside.

      Not giving the pizza is a horrible decision. There’s a reason the US army considers ice cream to be one of their most important resources. People really underestimate how much good food does in a situation where you best food is usually ramen you paid for with a day worth of labor.
