CORNEL WEST IS THE OBVIOUS CHOICE. BIDEN IS JUST A WRECKER TRYING TO STEAL VOTES FROM WEST SO THAT TRUMP CAN WIN.

A VOTE FOR BIDEN IS BASICALLY A VOTE FOR TRUMP BECAUSE YOU’RE STEALING A VOTE FROM WEST.

    BIDEN VOTERS ARE ENABLING FASCISM

Democracy is when your country has at least three foundational institutions - the senate, electoral college, and scotus, all explicitly designed to protect the government from the will of the people.

I live in a red state where Biden has no chance of winning, along with pretty much all of the Democratic candidates at any position they run in.

If the Dems gave two shits about getting out the vote for “team blue” then they’d spend all their time and money setting up and running mutual aid groups for the unhoused, under employed, people without affordable eye/dental/hearing care, getting transgender people things like minor surgeries/hormones, getting pregnant people proper heathcare or abortion services, offices open 24 hours staffed with people who’s sole purpose is to get anybody that walks in the door every cent of government assistance that can be squeezed out …

Instead, the Dems do the same shit they accuse the third parties of doing, just throwing some rando candidates on a ballot every 2~4 years who magically appear in public about 4 months before any election and dissolve into mist the day after the voting is done.

It’s not just the US. These mainstream political parties are telling on themselves when they don’t do what you’ve suggested. They conceive of themselves entirely in electoral and legislative terms. It’s the downfall of ‘left’ parties the world over. It has never and could never cross their minds to do something with their huge memberships. It’s beyond them in every sense of the word.

Communists parties, on the other hand (and anarchist orgs, tbf) start by working with the people. To libs this can only every be a calculated trick to fool the people into support. The cognitive dissonance must hit like a gorilla to hold those thoughts together at the same time in their heads. No wonder they’re dazed.

Better vote for the party that is never in danger of tricking passers-by into thinking it might do something to help the people.

The liberal line is “wouldn’t you rather have socially progressive neoliberalism than Christian theocracy?” The answer is of course yes, but it’s a malformed question.

If politicians believe they are owed votes because they’re marginally better than the opposition, they are not accountable to anyone but their wealthy donors. Biden sided with the rail oligarchs on the rail strikes, bailed out silicon valley bank and did virtually nothing to enshrine abortion in law or eliminate student loans. Eventually, even the “socially progressive” elements will be negotiated away in the name of compromise, it’s already started happening with transgender rights.

Liberals, we love to have a laugh at your expense on Hexbear, but there is nobody on this earth who has more contempt for you and your values than the DNC. They’re running a senile, geriatric dixiecrat for a second term and asking you to he enthusiastic about it. If he loses, it will not be the fault of the radical leftists who refused to vote for him, it will be the fault of the DNC for failing to deliver on the policies that got them elected.

Then why make the choices that leave bleach as the only option? America is nowhere near progressive enough to vote in a social democrat let alone a socialist so why make bleach the option?

You’re assuming too much active agency on the part of voters on the American political process. Politics does not happen on election day. Voting does not deliver results. People who (rightfully) did not like Joe Biden because of literally his entire political career but voted for him anyway got what to show for it? Kids still in cages now 3 years later and Roe v Wade overturned without a fight and used as a fundraising tool by the craven ghouls in the Democratic Party.

It is a waste of time and energy to vote for Joe Biden, much less try to convince other people to vote for him. If an American slide into fascism is inevitable, he and the Democratic Party are not only incapable of doing anything about it, but unwilling to.

I’m a 1 issue voter. I don’t vote for politicians who voted for the war in Iraq and enabled/cheerled the bush admin into murdering a million people in the middle east out of a racist desire for veangence.

If the dems want my vote they can nominate someone who didn’t do that horrible shit.

In a fight, it is good to keep both hands up to guard blows and both feet on the ground to keep yourself upright, but eventually you are going to need to throw a punch or a kick unless you just want to get slowly beaten down, even though throwing a strike makes you more vulnerable in the short term.

Okay so you’re participating in local bourgeois elections.

Supporting my local dsa in tenant organizing, union organizing, and municipal organizing. You know, actually building a base of power to challenge Republicans because the democrats never will.

We’re also taking over local offices. But we’re doing it together as an organized block that’s actually able to exert power, because we’ve actually built power.

Its not a good analogy, but regardless of what we use, the truth is people have no choice what the options are. Elections are mainly spectacle to make people feel like this is a democracy and that they have agency.

Its not a question of whether “America” is “progressive” enough, because the people of America are not even making the choice. They are merely affirming the choices of capital.

Recognizing that its just spectacle and an illusion of choice is an important step of seeing thr system for what it is. This isn’t a democracy for anyone but the capitalist class.

To use the bad analogy though, if bleach is one of the two options why is there an election anyway? That in and of itself is enough to invalidate the process as illegitimate.

Nevertheless Cornel West is the obvious real choice in this election.

honestly yeah, I’d love for the PSL to get more traction but they just don’t have the ballot access that the Green Party has and there’s a chance West could win that 5% to get federal funding.

I know people who worked super fucking hard to get PSL on our state ballot in 2020 and it’s just such an uphill battle that I wish the Greens and PSL could have figured out some kind of unity ticket. I understand why that didn’t happen though.
