“You have to vote for Biden for now, but once we get ranked choice voting you can vote third party.”

“Oh, does Biden support ranked choice voting then?”

    “No.”

Canadian Obama literally ran on ending FPTP, pretended to evaluate the alternatives, then said there was no consensus on which alternative to switch to so why bother.

Changing election systems means power giving up the path by which it got to power. Guess how likely that is.

RCV/instant runoff doesn’t actually create opportunities for third parties either. Plenty of places use it and still have duopolies or single party rule. There’s also fptp systems that have multiple parties engaged in government.

It’s almost like political power doesn’t flow from votes.

It’s an improvement and I could see some argument for holding your nose and voting for a lib if they were actually gonna do it, but when the candidate doesn’t even pretend to support it it’s just another reason to oppose them, it’s entirely self-defeating.
