Share your shave of the day!
For those playing along with the Lather Games on the other website, today’s theme is:
Sweet Sunday
Product must be a sugary sweet gourmand. Products inspired by sweet, desserts, etc. are good candidates for this theme.

- Prep: warm water
- Razor: GEM Micromatic Bullet Tip/Flying Wing, gold
- Blade: GEM PTFE
- Brush: AP Shave Co. 30 mm Tuxedo Fan w/ black & clear handle
- Lather: Jean & Len - Fresh Menthol Rasierpaste (shaving cream)
- Post Shave: Thayer’s Cucumber facial spray; Jean & Len moisturizer
A short head shave I did before departing for a final time to my internship place. One pass and done.
This shaving cream in a glass jar arrived together with the Feather Popular I could finally get yesterday, so today was a first experience. Jean & Len make interesting skincare products that I really dig, although this shaving cream is not available on their website anymore. It still was there on Amazon, so I grabbed one. They advertised it as “made in Germany”; so I believe it’s made for them by Meißner Tremonia. MT also uses glass jars and also has a scent of the same name in their line-up. Actually, the smell is pretty much all eucalyptus and rosemary - kinda like a sports cream. It is nice to spread around and easy to lather though, no complaints here. The glide is pretty good, not as great as for example the WK Siero base, but still very useful for shaving…
Using a GEM again after a long time, at first I thought it’d turn out bad. To my pleasant surprise, it was a very good and comfortable shave!

- Brush: AP Shave Co. - 24mm 2Bed Synthetic #FAUXFUR
- Razor: Wolfman Guerilla (Gen 1) #CNC
- Blade: Bolzano Superinox (German) (11)
- Lather: Stirling Soap Co. - Almond Creme - Soap
- Post Shave: Old Spice - Hawkridge - Aftershave
- Fragrance: Brut - EdT
Theme justification, from the Stirling website:
Scent Description Delicious Marzipan is the second name for this soap. It really needs no other description, other than to say you might try to eat it. It tastes like soap, though. Don’t ask how I know…..For Men and Women.
I used the “#CNC” tag earlier in the games, but thanks to the portal I was able to realize that I effed it up and put it in the wrong place. So here’s my second attempt at getting that scavenger hunt item.
For the “#FAUXFUR” tag, it will be up to the lovely judge to decide. The AP Shave Co. website doesn’t have much in the way of marketing descriptions, but with the lower part of the bristles being light colored, then a band of darker color, then another band of light color – it looks like it’s imitating a badger knot. But, if it’s deemed to not count, I’m ok with that.
Sweet Sunday
- Brush: Zenith 506B MB (27 mm × 51 mm Manchurian badger)
- Razor: Zwilling J. A. Henckels Friodur 14 (8/8", extra hollow ground, stainless steel) #STR8SNOB
- Lather: Summer Break Soaps – Teacher’s Pet
- Post Shave: Southern Witchcrafts – Pomona
- Fragrance: Stirling Soap Co. – Sweet Stuff
Theme: Teacher’s pet is red apple with brown sugar. It smells sweet and yummy and happy.
I’m sad it’s been discontinued, but luckily Braeburn scratches the same itch.
Relevant post and frag: Pomona is another sweet apple scent, and finally Sweet Stuff is here to dial the sweetness to 11.
Challenge: This was the perfect opportunity to try my new-to-me rubber lather catcher thingy that barbers use to wipe lather from the blade without running water. (My preferred kitchen shave spot is an the kitchen table, not the sink])

I think that if a soap has a gourmand scent, the soap base should also have a gourmand name. So, Crème Fraîche it is! Lovely fruit notes in this scent that are moderated only slightly by the base notes. A perfect choice for the 95°F day we had today.
