It has little to do with the state of infrastructure nationwide, but a major bridge in Baltimore collapsed and libs wanna talk about how great transport under the Biden admin is? Or, you know, the train derailments, the planes falling off the sky, etc.

The bridge hit is relevant, more to the system than Biden, but in context the import of the bridge and the commercial value of everything being shipped around the world, maybe even the criticality of some of is… Is it really too expensive to implement more to prevent ships smashing into it and closing the harbor for weeks? Apparently not, from the economy which routinely kneecaps innovation to protect monopoly.

Not to mention the bridge itself was in a pretty dire state. Not super relevant because even if it was brand new it would’ve been totaled regardless, but it is worth mentioning.

The Maryland government decided to allow huge ships like the one that hit the bridge despite expert advice saying the thing that happened would happen. Economic incentives are the reason this happened (not to mention the ship itself was probably poorly maintained, so there’s plenty of blame to go around).
