I read about the fascinating feedback loop mechanism with the show Fox & Friends. The show is a constant stream of culture war outrage, “can you believe they’re doing this!?”, five minutes of outrage about it, “next up,” rinse and repeat.
However, after the episodes air they monitor social media, blogs, YouTubers, streamers, to see which outrage stories they aired are picking up steam and which aren’t kicking up dust. The latter, they drop those like a rock, they will not bring them up again. The former, those they will harp on and amp up for months or years.
So yeah, the right is getting their outrage cues from conservative media. But it’s less, they dutifully get programmed by conservative media, more like conservative media throws as many flavors of slop at them until they find the ones that makes the piggies oink.
