Female lions can’t get pregnant while they have cubs, so when a new male takes over a pride, he’ll kill all the existing cubs first, then have sex with the females. Sometimes they try to hide their cubs to prevent this.

Hyenas have a higher hunting success rate than lions and lions scavenge more often from hyenas than the other way around. Yet somehow documentaries perpetuate the belief that cowardly hyenas steal food from the noble lions.
