    This morning’s harvest

Not a bad return on investment for the potatoes - I had a small patch in the front yard I planted about a dozen sprouting potatoes from the cupboard.

You got this. It’s a weird sensation, spending that much money on something you won’t hold in your hand for another 30/60/90 days. Once the buyers remorse fades out, there’s a wonderful sense of security coming your way too. And the power to hang pictures and shelves wherever you want them!

Last minute decision made to go down to Geelong for Chemical Brothers. I’ll be going alone but I’ve heard good things about this show so I think it will be worth dealing with the nightmare that is Mt Duneed estate parking.

The little one seems to be getting hit hard by this antibiotic. She’s really not feeling well. I might ring the vet today and check if that’s normal

Good week overall I think. Work has been a bit crazy which I’m trying to sort out with management to slow things down a bit for the sake of my team and my own mental health. Plus being at conferences doesn’t help…

Been losing a decent amount of weight too, about 10kg in the last 3-4 weeks and starting to ‘regain’ the muscle I had when I was younger and a gym freak. I think this is more just getting my muscles used to regular exercise again so it’ll plateau soon. Just trying to get in to a health(ier) routine all in all.

Sadly missed the weekly online co-op gaming session with friends since someone messed up the days. Also bought some new furniture to make the place feel a bit more homely.

So all in all, doing pretty well.

Yeah, apparently things are normal. Melbcat is unhappy though. She didn’t want to eat her usual medicated dinner so I tossed it (to avoid double dosing) and resorted to mixing a meds cocktail in an oral syringe. Then gave her the hated antibiotic. Plain cat food was also given as a chaser but I can’t see from here if she ate it.

She’s having a cuddle while everything kicks in. I’m hoping the anti-nausea pill that was crushed in there helps.

I may not be available to make the next Daily Thread. I’ll be here, just might not be able to press buttons. So if anyone is up at that time could you please do it. Thank you.

I really can’t overstate how amazing exercise is for mental health.

Woke up feeling like shit. Went to the gym and mood has improved 10 fold.

I miss the days when there were fun little phone game aps that didn’t have a billion pop up adds or ongoing subscriptions or constant nagging to buy treasure chests. Sometimes I just want something a bit mindless to occupy me while waiting for appointments and feel like that golden era has gone. Now I’ll browse social media or news websites but it’s not really the same.

Have a look at Vampire Survivor. I know it’s free on iOS, the base game is available and I think from memory there’s much not in the way of ads.

Cons is that it might eat up more of your time than anticipated.

Also going to point you to Phoenix 2 if you like short little space vertical scrolling shooters.

No ads unless you want revives or extra credits.

I just also recommended Phoenix 2 as well if you like space vertical shooters.

Short session plays that renew daily with no ads unless you want extra revives or credits.

I still have Flight Control, Plants Vs Zombies, Peggle, Fieldrunners, and Jetpack Joyride from those early iOS days. I even paid $1.19 for some (maybe all?) of them.

Lucky! I’d be happy to pay for games like those, but as once off, not ongoing in app. However market forces seem to be that this is not profitable compared to ads or ongoing in app purchases. Pity.

I’m going to have to do a run with the garlic sometime, I’m quite partial to the tome myself and lightning.

Need to play more as well since I haven’t unlocked much.

Check out a developer called yiotro. His stuff aint flashy and almost entirely strategy/puzzle but are light on resources (i.e you can pick up and play/stop whenever without losing progress. Also won’t kill your battery), and not most importantly not bloated with ads. The perfect time killer.

Some of his games are pretty fun/addictive/challenging. Paid versions are a few bucks and free for life.
