In case you are unaware “hero” is another name for a submarine sandwich – particularly in some parts of the USA. I thought this would be more fun to try to draw than the more obvious “hero with a cape” interpretation of the word since I’ve done a lot of character drawings lately…

If you can’t think of something you’d rather draw instead, I’d like to see a cartoony “Super Hero” sandwich. With a cape, of course! 😉️

Oh, that’s what it was? Yeah that went over my head (also the one on the left looks like a frog and not a lizard).
The one on the left is a toad, but the idea essentially was a couple of “literal lounge lizards” lounging about at the local watering hole (basking on the rocks). 🤷️
I kind of went a bit overboard with inventing the particular characters and the one on the left ended up morphing into a toad character inspired in part by Winston Churchill while I was digging around for reference images. I gave him an Old Fashioned. The one in the middle was supposed to be a Komodo dragon wearing John Lennon-esque teashades with a tequila sunrise. The one on the right was originally supposed to be an iguana crossed with James Bond (thus the martini) but I ended up ditching the original costuming idea and just gave him a red scarf based on an intermediate drawing that I thought looked better than what I had originally had in mind…
I guess the ingredients got a bit muddled, but I think its one of my stronger drawings visually.

That’s also a very good sandwich, but not the one I drew this time – this one’s a hero sandwich with Italian style toppings similar to e.g. this recipe.
